NLT’s Jen Martin had the opportunity to check in to the Ritz Lake Oconee and check it out!  And, let us tell you, there are some exciting things happening there!

The Ritz is located on Reynold’s Plantation, Lake Oconee, and offers the penultimate in luxury lake living!  Furthermore, it is just a 5 hour drive from Nashville, making it an easy long weekend trip. Or, you can fly into Atlanta and the drive is about 1 hour and 15 minutes.  The Ritz will even pick you up at the airport, as a car is not really necessary once on the property.

There are 257 guest rooms and suites, 2 or 3 bedroom cottages and a brand new 5,400 sf lake house that will knock your socks off!  The Ritz has been very busy renovating and the guest rooms look amazing!  They are now tackling the cottages one by one and we can’t wait to see the finished product!

The two biggest draws are the lake, of course, and the 5 champion-ship golf courses, that guest of the Ritz have the privilege to play.  They have a golf concierge, providing you with a streamlined experience.

What else is new at the Ritz?

They already have an amazing infinity pool overlooking the lake.  It is connected to their lakeside restaurant, Gabby’s by the Lake, and the food and service is stellar.

But, the big news is that they are adding a family pool with all the bells and whistles, which is going to take family fun to the next level! They are also adding a beautiful indoor spa pool, which will be heavenly for those late fall and early spring golf trips!

Dining is fantastic at the Ritz!  Starting the day at Georgia’s for breakfast is delightful or you can stop by the Coffee Shop for a delightful brew and yummy pastry.  Gabby’s on the Lake is open for lunch and dinner and has a varied menu, we sampled almost everything on it and loved it all! Linger Longer Steakhouse is also right on property and is a fantastic experience.  At the end of every meal, they bring out delicious cotton candy for sharing.  Nothing like sugaring the kids up before bedtime! The Barrel Room offers the perfect ambience for an after dinner nightcap and offers light fare. And, here’s something romantic!  Chiminea Bonfire Dining!  For just $125 per person, you can dine with your sweetie lakeside in Adirondack chairs right by the lake.  It includes a 3 course meal, bottle of wine, and your choice of dessert.

Something else about family time, that might sound precious to Mom and Dad?

If your kids are doing online school and you can work from home, you just might be interested to know about the Ritz Kids Study Buddy Program.  Mom and Dad can work from their room or cottage while the kids have a dedicated spot to do their school work.

A dedicated counselor will connect before arrival to learn about the digital learning schedule, building a personal syllabus for the kids. The Ritz Kids Study Buddy will ensure the virtual class schedule is followed with mentorship and assistance, while enriching experiences like harvesting in the Chef’s Garden or fishing in the lake are sprinkled in for a break from digital learning. “Recess” and screen breaks will also include a selection of outdoor programs to choose from such as:

  • Amazing Nature: Kids will embark on a nature walk around the resort where they will see many animal wood carvings. Along the way, they’ll learn about the creative innovations of nature and how they’ve inspired things humans use every day.

  • What Good is a Tree: This program will teach kids about the importance of trees to our everyday lives.  They’ll participate in an educational outdoor scavenger hunt collecting leaves from different trees ending in a fun game of leaf bingo.

Additionally, a hub for recreation will feature arcade and lawn games, as well as age appropriate arts and crafts. In order to tackle the school day with their counselor, kids will receive a personalized tackle box upon arrival with variety of school supplies, molding clay, cards and more based on age level.

Pricing:
Full Day: $135 per child from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. including lunch
Half Day: $110 per child from either 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 to 4 p.m.
