Cabo Showdown: Solaz vs. Zadún – Which Escape is Right for You?

Cabo has it all: turquoise waters, desert landscapes, incredible resorts… and two very different ways to experience it. On a recent FAM trip, Marilyn Priest had the chance to stay at Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort, and Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and we’re breaking down the highlights to help you decide which property fits your vibe.

Solaz: Art, Ocean, and a Splash of Fun

Think modern, art-forward, and walkable. Solaz is only 20–30 minutes from SJD airport and it’s impossible not to notice the art everywhere—from curated installations to an on-site museum. WOW!

Rooms:
Marilyn stayed in entry-level rooms with ocean-facing balconies and hammocks—quiet and surprisingly serene for being close to the road. No plunge pools at this level, but plenty of charm and great value.

Dining & Drinks:
Seven on-site restaurants kept things exciting. Favorite? Dinner in the private wine cellar, featuring a 2,500-bottle Mexican wine collection 🍷.

Activities & Vibes:

  • Swimmable beach – rare for Cabo! 🏖️

  • Multiple pools including adults-only and family-friendly options

  • Tequila tasting for a true local experience

  • Kids club for little ones

  • Walkable design with golf carts available for convenience

Solaz feels social, stylish, and full of life—perfect for travelers who want vibrant energy, Instagram-worthy art, and a beach they can actually swim in.

Zadún: Quiet, Refined, and Totally Relaxing

Now imagine desert dunes, private plunge pools, and serene luxury. Zadún is just outside San José del Cabo, part of Ritz-Carlton’s elite Reserve portfolio, and it’s all about privacy, wellness, and curated experiences.

Rooms & Residences:
Entry-level rooms are spacious with plunge pools, terraces, and indoor/outdoor showers. Residences are perfect for families or groups who want extra space and privacy.

Dining & Experiences:

  • El Candil Bar: sunsets and cocktails 🌅

  • El Barrio: fun Frida Kahlo-themed setting, though food can be hit-or-miss

  • In-room breakfast: phenomenal

  • Fun workshops like chocolate making and sensory eating for families

Wellness & Recreation:

  • Sensei Spa: top-notch, serene, and huge 💆‍♀️

  • Outdoor showers, lap pool, beach yoga, Pilates

  • Pools are functional, beach is less swimmable than Solaz

Service:
Each guest has a personal concierge (Tosoani) via WhatsApp, making you feel completely taken care of.

Zadún is ideal for travelers who value quiet, privacy, spa experiences, and elevated service—think romantic escapes or high-end wellness retreats. ( Helloooo baby moons or anniversaries!! )

Solaz vs. Zadún: Quick Comparison

Both Solaz and Zadún redefine luxury in Los Cabos, but in completely different ways. Solaz hums with creative energy … think striking architecture, vibrant art, and a social scene that feels alive from sunrise swims to sunset tequila tastings. With seven restaurants and a swimmable beach (a true Cabo rarity), it’s ideal for travelers who love design, connection, and a bit of buzz.

Zadún, meanwhile, whispers instead of shouts. It’s all about calm, privacy, and intention. A place where every suite has its own plunge pool and every detail invites you to slow down. The beach may not be for swimming, but the serenity, spa rituals, and starlit in-room dinners more than make up for it.

Bottom Line:

  • Choose Solaz if you want vibrant energy, art-filled spaces, and a beach you can swim in.

  • Choose Zadún if you crave privacy, wellness, and attentive, personalized service.

Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or just your partner, Cabo delivers—and these two properties show just how different luxury escapes can be.
