Explora Lodge
Explora Valle Sagrado
The Exclusive Way of Exploring Peru
A Nashville Luxury Travel Hotel of the Week Feature
For several years, the Bouffard family has been checking items off their bucket list. This year was no different, and the NLT clients set out to explore to the home of Machu Picchu, Peru!
The travel trend for visiting Peru has always been to stay at multiple different hotels, in order to get the vast experience and see all that Peru offers. While this trend is certainly one way to go about visiting the country, Peru vacationers now have the new opportunity of staying in one single location for an extended period of time. The only way of accomplishing this is to stay at Explora Lodge, which is exactly what the Bouffard family set out to do!
Explora Peru is the newest Explora to come to life; there are only four others in the world! The Explora brand proposes a way of traveling based on in-depth exploration of the surroundings, the luxury of the essential and a sustainable development -- Explora Peru is no exception!
Strategically located between Cusco and Machu Picchu, Explora Valle Sagrado (it’s official name) was designed as the base from where you can explore a remote and amazing site: the Sacred Valley of the Incas. All of their programs include accommodation, transfers, meals and beverages, and a selection of more than 20 exclusive explorations developed by Explora.
The exclusive explorations just so happen to be what the Bouffard family was most impressed with. Every night after dinner, nature guides are waiting in the lodge, and help guests pick what they’d like to explore the next day. There is no planning before your trip, aside from choosing which day to go to Machu Picchu.
Through their explorations, guests can visit from Cusco to Machu Picchu, passing by remote villages, archaeological sites such as Ollaytantambo, Moray, Chinchero and Pisac, and this region’s high peaks, like La Verónica or Incañan.
When you aren’t exploring Peru, your stay in Explora is an entire experience within itself. The decoration is very zen, and the food and wine is authentic and healthy. All of their water is filtered three times! The WiFi is only in the lodge, and there are no TVs in the room, so you will feel very disconnected and be able to spend time with your loved ones -- everything at Explora is geared towards your experience.
The rooms combine simplicity and comfort to ensure that travelers get a good night rest after a day of exploration. With views to the cornfields and the mountains, the rooms are lined in wood and have a welcoming decoration, thus being a unique setting to disconnect and enjoy the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
An interior designer herself, Mary Jo-Bouffard was especially impressed by the style. She even went home and researched where she could find the pillows and linens herself!
Does it sound like the Explora Lodge and exploring Peru is making it's way onto your own bucket list? If so, the team at NLT can help you make this trip a reality for you!
